Play Sound provides a unproblematic, no-fuss mode to double-click fathom files in the Finder to drama them. It supports QuickTime fathom files (for example, AIFF or MP3 files), Mac OS System 7 fathom files (files with a file type of 'sfil' that contain 'snd ' resources), or any 'snd ' resources embedded into any file in the resource range. Play Sound is fully scriptable, allowing AppleScript writers to drama fathom files and 'snd ' resources that are embedded in script applets using unproblematic, easy-to-understand English syntax. You can apply Play Sound as a unproblematic fathom file player, nonetheless, without having to concern AppleScript at entirely. To drama any fathom file, but drag and drop the fathom file(s) onto the Play Sound icon in the Finder, or configure the Finder to blatant fathom files with Play Sound when you double-click them (realise the Play Sound documentation for instructions showing how to do this).
